On a Saturday at 4 pm a circuit breaker blew in our house. I called Otto's Electrical Service assuming I would be told that they could get to us sometime the next week. They arrived within 30 minutes, identified and fixed the problem and we paid the fee. It wasn't inexpensive, but it was a Saturday, and an unscheduled visit. We were happy customers. They will be our electricians of choice from now on.

The electrician I've been looking for for 25 years! We have an older (1920) house in the District, with mostly original wiring and some lighting installed by me. All previous electricians have shaken their heads, told me the house needs completely rewriting and I was lucky it hadn't caught fire etc. I read Yelp reviews of Richard Otto, made an appointment for the next day and he arrived exactly on time. He and his assistant removed and replaced the burnt-out wiring that had blown the breaker in a chandelier I had installed. A very thorough and neat job, reasonably priced, very friendly service. What more can you ask for?

I felt compelled to write a review after speaking with Richard Otto regarding a possible job on a house that we may or may not be purchasing. He allowed me to read the entire inspection report, voice my concerns and discuss. He gave me a quote based on the info given and was extremely kind and professional. It's so hard to find folks like this who you can call and ask a million questions to for nothing. Thank you so much for taking my call. You've eased my mind on the electrical aspects of this home. If all goes well, I'll be giving you a call to schedule work but at the very least, I'll be referring you to anyone who asks for an electrician!

Responds quickly, polite and very honest! Richard fixed a problem with my bathroom exhaust fan quickly and for a very reasonable price.
He is now my go-to-guy for all my electrical needs.

Richard Otto had done some minor work for a us a few years ago. Yesterday, I ran into some wiring issues on my 65 year old house that I couldn't troubleshoot, so I called Richard in the afternoon and left a message asking for any availability. He called back that evening and offered 2pm the next day (Super Bowl Sunday, I might add). Richard showed up on time with his apprentice Doug and immediately figured out the issue. Both are professional and personal. One thing I like about Richard is he is happy to walk you through what he is doing and the reasons why. He's willing to answer questions, so in the end I have a job completed and I'm more educated on my house wiring issues too. Highly recommend.
